See our course homepage for instructions in the "Computing" section. This process takes several days so please do so as soon as possible. The program is already installed in local clusters. Grading: There will be weekly quizzes homework assignments two exams and a final exam. Tentative exam dates are October 10th (Tuesday) and November 21st (Tuesday). Homework 10% Quizzes 20% Exam I 20% Exam II 20% Final Exam 30% Some sort of A is 90% and above. Some sort of B is 75 89%. These cut offs may be made more lenient but will not become stricter. The lowest 2 quizzes will be dropped. No late homework will be accepted. No make up quizzes unless you bring in a Dean s excuse. Make up quizzes will be oral exams with the professor. You will need a hand calculator (no graphing calculators allowed) to find roots logs and exponentials. Bring your calculator to the quizzes and exams. Homework assigments and the corresponding computer lab instructions are available from the Course homepage under the "Course Calendar" http://www.stat.duke.edu/courses/Fall00/sta102/homework.html Regrading: If an exam/quiz question is graded in error or if there is clerical error exams can be submitted for regrading. However note that the entire exam will be regraded not just the problem in question. Also the quiz/exam must be submitted for regrading with a written explanation of the grading error within one week of the graded test s return. Honor Code: It is against the honor code for you to copy homework/quiz/exam answers from anyone else s paper the back of the book or any other venue. I gently remind you that the goal of this class is to learn the material. You are permitted to ask each other questions and work together on your homework assignments but direct copying of answers allowing someone to copy your work letting someone else do the work for you and doing work for others is in violation of the honor code. Extra credit pop quizzes may be given during lectures covering any material that has been presented
