PLANT PHENOLOGY REPORT Department of Horticulture Oregon State University Corvallis Oregon February 4 2009 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Date of 2009 season st Phenospecies 1 bloom deviation* Taraxicum officionale (dandelion) 1-28 -10 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*+10 ten days early -10 ten days later than average. Notes: Last spring was the coldest in western Oregon in more than 40 years. This could be another cold one. Spiraea arguta on average is at first bloom on January 18. This year it is barely showing green tip on February 4 so I estimate it to be three weeks late. Global warming where art thou Mel Westwood Professor Emeritus Quote of the Month: Phenology does not lie. Melvin N. Westwood
