National Invitational Results The National Invitational raw scores have been placed on the website These were the placings for the events in each discipline and reflect the daily placing for Individuals and Teams. For the over all team scores and overall individual scores (the three days) we use a system that the National 4-H Shooting Sports committee approved for the weighting of events to create equity between the events and between disciplines and for the overall traveling trophy. In each event a track meet placing type of point system was to be used. . Example small bore rifle had 45 participants. Each day the person will get points to equate the event 1st place will get 45 points 2nd place 44 points and so on down the line till number 45th place gets 1 point. The points from the three events are to be added together and that will give us the overall ranking for the week in the three events for small bore rifle. Teams also used the same type of system. There was an error with the process and raw score totals were reported out in error. Since I was the person in charge the error was my fault. The individual placings that were announced on Thursday were not totally correct as they came from the raw scores and not the placing system to equal the three events. In an effort to make things correct each participant that received a ribbon or medal on Thursday for the over all will be able to keep the award. Those participants whose ranking moved up in the top ten in their discipline will be receiving their appropriate award to correct the error. I was the person in charge and I accept the responsibility for the mistake. I apologize for the mistake and I and the National 4-H Shooting Sports committee are striving to do the right thing for the sake of the youth who worked so hard on the preparation for the Invitational. I want to commend all the participants who stepped forward during the competition and told the scorers when they had been given too many points on a target or that their score was too high. We are about youth development and making this correction is the right way to do things so that these young people get their proper recognition. Again I apologize for this unfortunate error to the parents and most of all to the youth participants that it has impacted. Sincerely Jim Simms Air Pistol Individuals 1. Jesse Strait Colorado 2.
