Contents : Biography for Dr. Sandee Crowther Sandee Crowther was born and raised in St. Louis. After attending the University of Kansas she began her professional career in Lawrence Kansas as a junior high teacher. During her residency for her doctorate she taught courses and supervised student teachers at KU. Crowther worked for the Lawrence Public Schools in a variety of roles for more than 40 years. She retired as the executive director of planning and program improvement. In that position she oversaw professional development school improvement and student support services. In 1996 the district was named a Model Professional Development Program by the U.S. Department of Education under her leadership. In retirement she serves as a leadership coach and trainer for Coaching School Results Inc. Crowther was initiated into PDK in 1974 and has served in a variety of chapter roles as an area coordinator and as a District III and Region C Representative. In addition to her leadership roles in PDK she has been active in several other professional organizations and was president of the National Staff Development Council in 1996-97. About Phi Delta Kappa International PDK International founded in 1906 is the premier professional association for educators. Currently PDK has more than 35 000 members including university faculty and administrators school superintendents principals and teachers. The association maintains an extensive network of more than 250 chapters in the United States Canada and the nations in Europe and Asia.
